Category II F-gas Certificate
This training course meets the requirements for the A2 certificate of competence pursuant to Section 4 of the Implementing Regulation (EU) 2024/2215, Article 10 of the F-Gas Regulation (EU) 2024/753, and Section 5 of the Chemicals and Climate Protection Ordinance.
Description
Work on stationary refrigeration and air conditioning systems, as well as heat pumps containing fluorinated greenhouse gases, may only be performed by certified personnel with the appropriate certification. Upon successful completion of this training, you will be authorized to perform tasks such as recycling/recovery, installation, maintenance, servicing, and cleaning of heat pumps, air conditioning units, and refrigeration systems containing fluorinated greenhouse gases and hydrocarbons (e.g., propane). The Basic Refrigeration Certificate (also known as the A2 Certificate of Competence) serves as an entry-level qualification that does not cover all areas (see notes).
Contents
Fundamentals of thermodynamics, as well as the components and operation of the refrigeration cycle
Basic knowledge for fundamental work related to refrigeration and air conditioning technology
Leak detection and maintenance: Requirements for leak testing and record-keeping
Documentation: Obligation to prepare and maintain records and service reports
Less legal and safety complexity, as well as less technical depth in the event of malfunctions
Notes
- Restrictions on the A2 Certificate of Competency: Work involving fluorinated greenhouse gases and hydrocarbons may only be performed if it is limited to equipment with a charge of less than 3 kg or, in the case of hermetically sealed systems that are labeled as such, to equipment with a charge of less than 6 kg.
- To participate, you must have completed a journeyman’s or master craftsman’s examination in the plumbing, heating, and air conditioning (SHK) trade, the electrical trade, or a metalworking trade, as well as have at least 2 years of professional experience. For training in the electrical trade, proof of soldering skills (hard and soft soldering) is also required.
